CORPUS CHRISTI – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team looks to add to UTRGV's lead in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union, as it faces Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Complex.


All-Time Series

• UTRGV is 3-18 all-time vs. Corpus Christi.
• UTRGV split last season's series with Corpus Christi.
• UTRGV defeated Corpus Christi 4-3 at home on 2/27/18. It was the first victory over Corpus Christi since 2/17/07.

 
Scouting Corpus Christi

• Corpus Christi is 3-0 on the season.
• The three wins came against Prairie View A&M (twice) and Trinity.
• Corpus Christi is 16-1 in singles play with six players undefeated. Carolina Bulatovic, My Kageyama, Vanessa Reinicke, and Mariya Shumeika are all 3-0.
• In doubles, Corpus Christi is 6-0 and has used six different doubles teams with one win each. 

 
Leading in the South Texas Showdown, Presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union

• UTRGV currently leads in the showdown standings 23.5 points to 6.5 points.
• The winner of the men's and women's matches on Monday will give its university three points in the standings.
• UTRGV won the last showdown event with a 70-57 win by women's basketball.
• The next showdown event will take place in Corpus Christi with the women's golf tournament from March 11-12.

 
Gaining Some Recognition

• Katarina Sasaroga and Sandra Putz were named WAC Doubles Team of the Week back on January 21 for their performance against Baylor.
• Sasaroga and Putz defeated Baylor's Katelyn Parker and Stephanie Adames 6-1.
• It was the first doubles win of the season for the duo and their first WAC honor.
