EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team will continue its home stand as it hosts Laredo Community College on Monday and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
Attendance is free and fans are encouraged to attend. Monday's match with Laredo Community College will start at 1 p.m. with Wednesday's match with Corpus Christi will start no later than 3 p.m. following conclusion of the men's match
All-Time Series
- UTRGV is 17-2 all-time against Laredo Community College in a series that dates back to 1986.
- Both teams last faced off last season as UTRGV won 7-0 won at home on 3/30/18.
- UTRGV is 3-29 against Corpus Christi all-time.

- Corpus Christi is 38-17 in singles play this spring with Mariya Shumeika leading the way with an 8-2 record.
- In doubles, Corpus Christi has posted a 13-11 record while using nine doubles teams. Carolina Bulatovic and Shumeika lead the way with a 4-3 record.
Last Time Out
- UTRGV fell 2-5 to Houston on Mar. 2
- UTRGV won the doubles point by winning on courts one and two.
- Marine Darzyan and Dominique Ibarra defeated Ndini Nduna and Sophie Gerits 6-4
- Sandra Putz and Katarina Sasaroga clinched the point with a 6-4 win over Phonexay Chitdara and Jovana Vukovic.
- Ibarra picked up the other UTRGV point with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Nduna on court one.
Leading in the South Texas Showdown, Presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union
- UTRGV currently leads in the showdown standings 23.5 points to 13.5 points.
- The winner of the men's and women's matches on Monday will give its university three points in the standings.
- UTRGV dropped the last three events.
- Women's Golf will have their second event on Monday with baseball having their first event on Tuesday.
