SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Dimitris Levantinos finished fifth in his heat in the 400-meter hurdles for The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) outdoor track & field team during the first day of the NCAA West Preliminary Round on Thursday at Hornet Stadium.
 
Levantinos finished 29^th overall out of 48 competitors with a time of 51.76 seconds, the second best of his career and fifth best in program history.
 
Junior AshleyHughes started the 400-meter dash, but was forced to exit the race due to injury.
 
Senior Diamond Thomas takes center stage for UTRGV on Friday at 2 p.m. when she competes in the discus throw.
