RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team is set to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, as part of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union, on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
 
Admission is free and fans are encouraged to attend. Gates open at 1 p.m.
 
Last Time Out

• UTRGV (0-5) fell 2-5 to Lamar on the road.
• The team of Kristyna Mamicova and Alica Thal picked up their second doubles win of the season by defeating Jayci Wong and Laura Sola 7-6 at the No. 3 spot. 
• Katarina Sasaroga got UTRGV on the board with a win at No. 1 singles by defeating Jasmin Buchta 1-6, 7-6, 12-10.
• Ana Platisa added another point on the board with a 4-6, 7-5, 10-7 win over Sanja Jolic at No. 3 singles. 

 
All-Time Series Against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

• UTRGV is 3-31 all-time against Corpus Christi in a series that dates back to 2000.
• Corpus Christi won the last match up 7-0 this season back on January 29 at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center. 
• The last time UTRGV defeated Corpus Christi came on February 27, 2018 when it won 4-3 at the Orville Cox Tennis Center snapping a 14-match losing streak to Corpus Christi.
• The other two wins for UTRGV came on February 17, 2007 (4-3) and on February 3, 2007 (4-2).
• Last five matches vs. Corpus Christi: L 0-7 (Jan. 29, 2020), L 2-4 (Mar. 13, 2019), L 2-5 (Feb. 4, 2019), L 2-5 (Mar. 3, 2018), W 4-3 (Feb. 27, 2018).

 
Scouting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

• Corpus Christi is 9-1 on the season.
• Has won four matches in a row with wins over University of Houston, Priairie View A&M, twice, and Texas A&M-Kingsville.
• Corpus Christi returns five from last year's squad, including Mariya Shumeika and Camille Townsend who led the team with 15 victories each last year.
• This season, Victoire Delattre leads the team with eight singles victories while the team has posted a 47-5 record in singles and a 19-4 record in doubles.

• UTRGV trails in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union, standings 14-28.
• The next match up in the showdown will the women's golf event in Corpus Christi from Feb. 24-25.
• UTRGV has dropped the last seven events in the showdown after winning four of the first six events.
