NACOGDOCHES – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the Stephen F. Austin (SFA) Lumberjacks on Friday at the SFU Soccer Field.
The Lumberjacks (8-5-1, 6-0-0 WAC) got the lone goal of the match in the eighth minute as Teia Haynes found Caylon McMilan who snuck it past UTRGV goalie
Maile Lunardi (3-9-1).
The Vaqueros (5-10-1, 1-5-0 WAC) put some pressure on the Lumberjacks late in the match but SFA goalie Madeline Talbot made the saves to keep the clean sheet.
Lunardi finished the match with two saves while Talbot finished with four saves.
The Vaqueros were outshot by the Lumberjacks eight to 14 but both teams put four shots on goal.
The Vaqueros will be back in action on Sunday when they stay on the road to face Sam Houston at 1 p.m. at Pritchett Field. Fans can watch in the United States on
