HOUSTON – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's tennis team is set for a four-match weekend starting at Rice on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the George R. Brown Tennis Center. 
 
UTRGV will also face No. 10 Texas A&M on Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Mitchell Tennis Center. The Vaqueros will also have two matches on Monday when it faces Mary Hardin Baylor at 9 a.m. and Concordia at 1 p.m. at the Yvonne Li Tennis Center.
 
Last Time Out
UTRGV last played on Feb. 21 when it fell 1-4 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to close out the H-E-B Tournament of Champions. 
 
The Islanders won doubles matches at the No. 2 and 3 spots to take the 1-0 lead after doubles.
 
UTRGV (3-6) picked up a point at the No. 1 singles spot where redshirt Carlo Izurieta defeated Ryuya Ata. After falling 3-6 in the first set, Izurieta won 6-2 in the second and 6-2 in the third for the win. 
 
The Islanders won at the No. 2, 4, and 5 spots to clinch the win with the other matches going unfinished.
 
Playing Rice

• Rice is 2-5 on the season.
• Rice is coming off of a 2-5 loss to Vanderbilt. 
• Rice's two wins this season came against Lamar and New Orleans.
• Rice is 16-23 in singles play while posting a 12-8 record in doubles. 
• UTRGV is 18-27 against Rice in a series that dates back to 1960.
• Rice won the last meeting 4-0 on Jan. 27, 2019 in Houston.
• UTRGV last defeated Rice on Jan. 14, 2019 when it won 4-3 in Houston.

 
Playing Texas A&M

• Texas A&M is 6-1 on the season. 
• Texas A&M is ranked 10^thin the ITA Rankings.
• Texas A&M is coming off of a 6-1 win over No. 16 Kentucky.
• Texas A&M has three other wins over ranked teams after defeating No. 17 Ole Miss, No. 21 Pepperdine, and No. 19 Central Florida.
• Texas A&M is 25-12 in singles play in dual match competition while posting a doubles record of 14-4. 
• UTRGV is 17-21 all-time against Texas A&M in a series that dates back to 1960.
• Texas A&M won the last matchup with a 4-0 win back on Jan. 26, 2019.
• UTRGV last won during the 1983 season. 

 
Playing Mary Hardin-Baylor

• Mary Hardin-Baylor has yet to play a match this spring having its first three matches canceled. 
• Mary Hardin-Baylor will face LeTourneau University on Saturday. 
• UTRGV is 4-0 all-time against Mary Hardin-Baylor in a series that dates back to 1974.
• The two programs haven't played each other since 1997. 

 
Playing Concordia

• Concordia is 0-2 on the season. 
• Concordia is coming off of a 3-6 loss to Southwestern on Feb.24. 
• Concordia opened the season with a 4-5 loss to Texas Wesleyan on Feb. 6. 
• UTRGV is 3-0 all-time against Concordia in a series that dates back to 1985. 
• UTRGV won the last matchup 7-0 on Jan. 29, 2016 in Austin.
