Women's Tennis Set to Host Corpus Christi Tuesday in Showdown Matchup

SAN MARCOS – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team is set to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, as part of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union, at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.

Seating at UTRGV home tennis matches is limited to 25 fans. Limiting the capacity allows for proper social distancing among fans, staff, and student-athletes.

Face masks are required to be worn properly by all fans, media and staff present inside the Orville Cox Tennis Center. The CDC defines wearing a mask correctly as covering the nose and mouth and securing it around the chin, trying to fit in snugly against the side of the face. The CDC does not recommend using masks with an exhalation valve or vent. Neck gaiters, bandanas and similar items are not acceptable alternatives to face masks. Children ages 2 and under are not required to wear masks.

Restrooms at the Orville Cox Tennis Center will be closed to the public to limit access into the Tier 1 section.

Leading in the Showdown Standings
The Vaqueros will try and help build its lead on the Islanders in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union. The winner of Tuesday's match will earn three points for their school in the standings.

UTRGV currently leads 15-9 in the standings. UTRGV won the first four events before Corpus Christi won the next three. UTRGV women's soccer won the last event in Corpus Christi.

The next event will be a women's soccer match match following the conclusion of the men's match on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
