EL PASO – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team fell 0-4 to the UTEP Miners on Tuesday at El Paso Tennis Club to close out its non-conference schedule. 
 
The Vaqueros (3-16) opened up doubles with a win at the No. 2 spot as the team of redshirt freshman and Harlingen South alum Valeria Montero and freshman Lea Karren picked up the 6-2 win over Vanessa Valdez and Lina Sachica. 
 
The Miners (5-6) answered with back-to-back win at the No. 3 and 1 spots to clinch the doubles point taking the 1-0 lead. 
 
In singles, UTEP got wins at the No. 2, 4, and 5 spots to clinch the win with the rest of the matches going unfinished. 
 
Freshman Isabelle Bahr was up in her match against Valdez at the No. 1 spot after winning the first set 6-3 but had her match stop midway through the second set. 
 
Karren was also up a set in her match against Sachica at the No. 3 spot after winning 7-6 but her match was stopped with the score 1-1 in the second. 
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action on Friday when they kick off the final WAC cluster of the season against Seattle U at 2 p.m. in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
