RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Men's Basketball Head Coach Matt Figger announced on Monday the hiring of athletic assistant Danny Feck, who had been a graduate assistant for Figger at Austin Peay the last two years.
 
During Feck's time at Austin Peay, he assisted with much of the travel-related responsibilities, including reconciling team travel receipts and planning and organizing team meals. The team went 35-25 (.583) during that time, including a 21-win season in 2019-20.
 
"Daniel is a very bright, hard-working and loyal individual," Figger said. "He'll fulfil a lot of duties around the office and assist in all aspects of the administrative part of our basketball team."
 
Feck came to Austin Peay from Marshall, where he was a manager for the men's basketball team from 2015 until his graduation in 2019, ascending to the head managerial role as a senior.
 
Among his duties were supervising and directing five assistant managers, organizing team meals, alumni interaction, managing game and practice uniforms on the road, and offering drill assistance during practice.
 
Marshall won Conference USA in 2018 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
 
Feck also has experience working basketball camps at Marshall and Virginia Tech.
 
"I'm excited to join Coach Figger's staff at UTRGV," Feck said. "Coach gave me an opportunity two years ago to join his staff as a graduate assistant at Austin Peay State and I never looked back. He is a one-of-a-kind coach and leader. The fan base will see that this season and will love his style of basketball. Over these past two years, he has taught me a new style of basketball that I have grown to love, and I can't wait to see what is next for us in the Valley."
 
Originally from Cincinnati, Feck graduated from Marshall in 2019 cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management. He completed his Master of Science in Leadership at Austin Peay this month.
