FORT WORTH – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's tennis team fell 1-6 to the No. 5 TCU Horned Frogs on Wednesday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in the season-opening match.
TCU (1-0) took the first two doubles matches to take the early 1-0 lead.
UTRGV (0-1) tied the match at 1-1 after gaining a point at the No. 6 spot with TCU being short a player in the lineup. The Horned Frogs then won at spots No. 2, 1, and 5 to clinch the win.

Te Kani Williams fell 1-6 in the first set against Tomas Jirousek at the No. 3 spot and then battled in the second set keeping it close before falling 3-6.

George Hutchings battled with Lui Maxted at the No. 4 spot as he fell 1-6 in the first set before going toe-to-toe in the second. After falling behind in the second set, Hutchings took the 5-4 lead before falling 5-7.
The Vaqueros will be back in action on Thursday when they face the Texas Tech Red Raiders at 3 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center.
