The Future of Texas: UTRGV Unveils Updated Logo

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday an update to the secondary logo, as it will now showcase the entire acronym for UTRGV horizontally across the State of Texas with a larger orange star marking the Rio Grande Valley.

The changes were made to better align UTRGV with the UT System by including the "UT" lettering and utilizing the UT System color, orange, to mark the location of UTRGV. Additionally, the star is now bigger in recognition of the growth of UTRGV during its seven years of existence.

The green star will remain in the 'V' of the UTRGV letters, honoring legacy institution UT Pan American, while the blue outline remains to honor legacy institution UT Brownsville.

"This new logo will help us to tell our story when our teams are on the road and when we're recruiting outside of the Valley," UTRGV Vice President and Director of Athletics Chasse Conque said. "Every time someone sees our logo, they will instantly know the name of our institution and where we are located. We are excited to use this logo to help bring more recognition to our university and our region while encouraging continuous growth."
