NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's soccer team played the CSUN Matadors to a scoreless draw on Saturday at Matador Soccer Stadium.
Both defenses battled through the 90 minutes. Freshman
Alexis Gonzalez (1-0-1) anchored a Vaqueros (2-3-2) defense with a career-high four saves in the match as he recorded his first-career shutout.
The Matadors (3-2-3) also got four saves from Cooper Wenzel.
The Matadors outshot the Vaqueros nine to seven while both teams put four shots on goal.
Junior
Raul Carrillo led the Vaqueros with three shots on the night with one of those shots on goal.
The Vaqueros will be back in action on Friday, September 30, when they open Western Athletic Conference play at Seattle U at 9 p.m.
