ABILENE – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's cross country team finished 10
thand the women's team was 11
th at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships at Zoe Park on Friday.
Senior
Alex Munoz paced the Vaqueros men with a 37
th place finish in 25:21.3, followed by fellow senior
Ricardo Garcia who took 48
th in 25:49.7. Sophomore
Abraham Morales took 61
st in 26:28.8. Freshman Mission Veterans Memorial alum
Manuel Flores hit a new personal record to finish 64
th in 26:39.7, improving his previous best 8K time by over a minute. Junior Rio Grande City alum
Alex Canales rounded out the scoring with a 67
th place finish in 26:51.2.

Diego De Leon also competed for UTRGV, finishing 76

th, respectively.
California Baptist (17 points) won the men's team title, followed by Utah Valley (57), Southern Utah (67), UT Arlington (152) and Utah Tech (165) in the top five. UTRGV (255), in 10
th, finished ahead of Seattle U (306) and behind Tarleton State (166), Grand Canyon (207), Abilene Christian (213) and Stephen F. Austin (215) in the team standings.

Samantha Gonzalez and sophomore PSJA High alum
Faith Cruz led UTRGV's pack. Gonzalez was 56
th in 23:23.9 and Cruz followed in 60
th in 23:32.9. Seniors Sharyland High alum
Ana Hernandez (24:09.0) and Brownsville Porter alum
Estrella Medellin (24:12.8) were 71
st and 72
nd, respectively, and freshman
Kailey Salazar finished 75
thin 24:27.0 to round out the scoring.

th for the Vaqueros.
Utah Valley secured the women's team title with 30 points, followed by California Baptist (36), UT Arlington (92), Southern Utah (115), Grand Canyon (134), Seattle U (192), Utah Tech (200), Stephen F. Austin (216), Abilene Christian (247), Tarleton State (303) and UTRGV (306).
UTRGV next heads to the NCAA South Central Regional on Nov. 10 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
