RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros baseball team (26-21, 12-12 WAC) is set to host the Grand Canyon University Lopes (31-19, 17-7 WAC) for the final home series of the year Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m. at UTRGV Baseball Stadium.
Saturday's 6:30 p.m. game was rained out.
Friday
The festivities start at 4 p.m. in the parking lot behind right field where, in conjunction with
G3 Scrap Metal,
L&F Distributors and
5x5 Brewing Co., UTRGV Athletics will be hosting a tailgate to officially launch
Los Vaqueros, a blood orange kölsch style ale created by 5x5 Brewing Co. Fans can enjoy food, drinks and music during this celebration. Not only is G3 Scrap Metal bringing a DJ, but
Payne Auto Group is sending Chris Marshall to perform. G3 Scrap Metal is providing the food. Drinks are courtesy of 5x5 Brewing Co.
Fans attending the tailgate will receive free Uber codes, courtesy of L&F Distributors.
Although this tailgate party officially starts at 4 p.m., fans can set up their own tailgates in the right field parking lot as early as 12:30 p.m.
Fans will be treated to a critical Western Athletic Conference baseball game between UTRGV and Grand Canyon. Additionally, the women's golf team's seniors will be honored during the game.
After the game, fans will be treated to fireworks, courtesy of G3 Scrap Metal.
Friday is also the Cane's Challenge, which rewards fans with a buy one, get one free coupon for a box combo at
Raising Cane's if the Vaqueros win.
Sunday
Superhero Day
Fans dressed as their favorite superheroes or in their best comic book character attire will receive free general admission.
Senior Day
The graduating senior class will be honored in a special pregame ceremony.
All Games
Current UTRGV students receive free general admission with their student ID.
All fans need to follow the clear bag policy, details of which can be found at
GoUTRGV.com/ClearBag.
V Club donors at the MVP level or above can take advantage of
priority parking.
Gates open one hour before first pitch.
