RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Friday that fans will have an opportunity to meet members of the UTRGV football team, get autographs, and tailgate during the UTRGV soccer (fútbol) doubleheader on Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
Fútbol
UTRGV women's soccer faces Stephen F. Austin at 11 a.m. and men's soccer faces Grand Canyon, a team receiving votes in the latest top 25 poll, at 2 p.m.
Complimentary admission can be obtained by registering for a UTRGV Soccer Pass at
GoUTRGV.com/SoccerPass. The UTRGV Soccer Pass gives fans free admission to all men's and women's soccer home matches.
Fans are required to follow the clear bag policy which can be found at
GoUTRGV.com/ClearBag. Gates open at 10 a.m.
Tailgating
Tailgating runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with parking available both in front of the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex and at the Region One Education Service Center next door. There will be several food trucks on-site, televisions that fans can use to watch NFL games, inflatables and interactive areas, and music.
Football Autographs
Fans will be able to get autographs from players that are part of the UTRGV football offense from 12-to-1 p.m. and from players that are part of the defense from 2-to-3 p.m. Players will be split up by position at tables around the complex and tailgating area. UTRGV Athletics will be providing UTRGV football posters that can be autographed while supplies last.
Additionally, the UTRGV bookstore will be selling merchandise on-site from 1-to-3 p.m. Fans can purchase gear to be autographed as well.
Football Team Introductions
UTRGV football student-athletes and coaches will be introduced on the soccer field in-between matches at approximately 1 p.m.
UTRGV Marching Band and Spirit
The UTRGV marching band and spirit squads will be in attendance and perform as well.
