MIDLAND – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros swimming & diving program dominated UT Permian Basin, winning every event en route to a 215-75 victory, in their season opener Saturday at City of Midland Aquatics.
 
Sophomore Manou Meulebeek officially qualified for the NCAA Zone "D" Diving Championships in the 3-meter springboard after securing a program record 293.25 to win the event. Meulebeek continued her run by earning a victory in the 1-meter springboard to sweep the diving events.
 
The Vaqueros downed the Falcons with a total team effort as seven individuals combined for 14 individual wins and the team winning both relay events.
 
Freshman Sarah Bull led the charge, earning wins in the 200 freestyle (1:59.81) and the 200 butterfly (2:13.70). Meanwhile, sophomore Annaleagh Stahl picked up wins in the 100 backstroke (1:00.61) and the 200 individual medley (2:17.93). Stahl and Bull also tied for first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:08.40.
 
Freshman Jaydy Jay swept the breaststroke swims winning the 100 (1:08.61) and 200 breaststroke (2:27.33). Both swims set new program records for the Vaqueros.
 
Junior Olivia Votava showed off her middle distance and distance prowess with wins in the 500 freestyle (5:29.12) and the 1000 freestyle (11:20.37).
 
Freshman Dia Henderson burst onto the scene claiming victories in the 50 (25.24) and 100 freestyle (55.71). Meanwhile, sophomore Ida Rudelius claimed her lone win in the 100 butterfly (1:01.39).
 
UTRGV set the tone with the 200 medley relay as the team of Stahl, Jay, Rudelius, and Henderson took the event with a 1:52.02.
 
The Vaqueros closed the meet with a strong swim in the 200 freestyle relay as Bull, Jay, Rudelius, and Henderson combined for a 1:43.10.
