FORT WORTH – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team finished their run at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Texas Regional Saturday at TCU's Bayard H. Freeman Tennis Center.
In doubles action, dropped an extremely competitive, juniors
Madeleine Joffe and
Hitakamya Narwal back-and-forth battle to UT Arlington's (UTA) Vanja Cado and Natalia Gonzalez, 8-7 (8-6). Meanwhile sophomore
Mariia Bakhtina and junior
Rhea Makesar fell to Rice's Anushka Ashar and Divna Ratkovic 8-3 in the consolation draw.
Makesar fought hard, but fell, against SMU's Elena Mireles, 6-4, 6-4, in the consolation draw round of 32.
Up next, the Vaqueros will compete at the Southland Conference Fall Championship, hosted by Northwestern State, from Oct. 23-26. The singles and doubles champions will advance to the 2025 ITA Conference Masters Championship.
