SAN MARCOS – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team earned three wins on the final day of the River State Shoot-Out, hosted by Texas State, Sunday.
In doubles action, the duo of sophomores
Mariia Bakhtina and
Luna Buijtenhuijs split their two matches today, earning a 6-4 victory over Texas State's (TXST) Olivia Collins and Chantajah Mills in flight three.
In singles, seniors
Barbara Martinez and
Valentina Urraco shined once again in flight four. Martinez earned a swift 6-1, 6-1 victory over Northwestern State's (NSU) Martina Acebedo Bonocore while Urraco dispatched Texas State's Julia Richardet in similar fashion, 6-1, 6-1.
Up next, select Vaqueros will compete at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Texas Regional, hosted by TCU from Oct. 9-14.
