FORT WORTH – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team is prepped and ready to compete at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Texas Regional this weekend.
The ITA Texas Regional runs Thursday through Tuesday at TCU's facilities in Fort Worth. Players from Div. I programs across the state will gather and battle in singles and doubles for a chance to advance to the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
UTRGV will open play Thursday with the qualifying round of singles. Two Vaqueros are slated to compete in the qualifying round as juniors
Madeleine Joffe and
Hitakamya Narwal look to punch their ticket into the main draw.
Joffe is scheduled to begin first, at 8 a.m., taking on Incarnate Word's Ine Lamprecht while Narwal is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. and will face off against Stephen F. Austin's Antonella Taco Villarreal.
The Vaqueros will aim to win out and advance to Friday's contests.
Senior
Rhea Makesar will begin her singles run in the main draw on Friday and is scheduled to face Houston's Elizaveta Morozova.
