BOISE, Idaho – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros swimming & diving program broke four more school records at the NW Collegiate Invite, hosted by Idaho, Saturday at the Idaho Central Aquatics Center.
 
The Vaqueros opened the finals session strong, earning school record times for the "A" and "B" 200 medley relay squads. The "A" team of sophomore Annaleagh Stahl, freshmen Jaydy Jay, Sarah Bull, and Dia Henderson checked in at 11^th with a time of 1:47.90 while the "B" team of freshmen Sasapin Sarawas and Ava Light and sophomores Ida Rudelius and Madiana Lofgren completed the race in 1:50.47 to earn 15^th.
 
Bull carried the momentum into the 100 butterfly, swimming a school record time of 58.22 to finish 20^th, while Henderson (58.22), Rudelius (59.20), Lofgren (1:04.17), and Light (1:09.29) finished 22^nd, 26^th, 36^th, and 40^th respectively.
 
In the 400 individual medley, Stahl and Jay once again earned top 16 finishes as Stahl improved her standing by one place ending 10^th with a time of 4:36.48 while Jay took 16^th with a 4:43.93. Junior Olivia Votava (4:47.83) and Plant (4:48.40) finished in 20^th and 21^st, respectively, to round out the event for the Vaqueros.
 
In the 200 freestyle, Henderson and Rudelius earned 16^th and 17^th place, respectively, while Lofgren and Plant turned in 27^th and 29^th place finishes.
 
Jay led the way for the Vaqueros in the 100 breaststroke, swimming a 1:07.77 to claim a UTRGV-high 16^th place. Light finished in 23^rd after clocking in at 1:10.49. Meanwhile, sophomores Diara Aleman (1:18.12) and Alexia Gonzalez (1:20.86) and freshman Giovanna Pierami (1:21.16) finished 28^th, 29^th, and 30^th, respectively.
 
Stahl earned her second top 10 finish, this time clocking in at 57.11 in the 100 backstroke to finish 10^th. Bull finished close behind, claiming 15^th after swimming a 58.41. Sarawas (58.97) and freshman Marina Johnson (1:01.30) finished 23^rd and 29^th, respectively. Junior AJ Rogers (1:06.16) and sophomore Lauren Uribe (1:10.12) turned in 34^th and 35^th place finishes to round out the event.
 
To finish the preliminary round, the Vaqueros competed in the 800 freestyle relay where the team of Bull, Henderson, Votava, and Rudelius swam a school record 7:48.35 to earn seventh while the team of Plant, Rogers, Lofgren, and Sarawas clocked in at 8:11.02 to claim 11^th.
 
Looking Back at the Prelims
 
In the 400 individual medley, Stahl and Jay both qualified for the "B" final with top 16 finishes. Stahl placed 12^th with a time of 4:41.09 while Jay clocked in one second later in 16^th with a time of 4:42.92.
 
Henderson finished 20^th in the 100 butterfly and swam a school record time of 58.73. Meanwhile, Bull clocked in at 59.19 to finish 23^rd and Rudelius finished 25^th with a time of 59.67.
 
Henderson continued to shine in the sprints, qualifying for the "B" final in the 200 freestyle after placing 15^th with a 1:57.39. Rudelius followed close behind, clocking in at 1:58.19, to finish at 17^th. Meanwhile, Plant (2:00.95) and Lofgren (2:00.99) finished 28^th and 29^th, respectively, to round out the Vaqueros top 30 finishers.
 
Jay led the way for the Vaqueros in the 100 breaststroke, finishing 17^th with a time of 1:07.82, while freshman Light came in 24^th with a time of 1:09.65.
 
The Vaqueros had two top 16 finishes in the 100 backstroke as Stahl (57.85) and Bull (58.10) qualified for the "B" final, finishing tied for 11^th and 16^th, respectively. Sarawas finished came in 22^nd with a time of 58.97.
 
In the 50 freestyle, Henderson set a then-school record 24.66 to finish 28^th and qualify for the "D" final while Rudelius finished placed 35^th with a time of 24.87 to qualify for the finals as well. Votava (25.11) and Lofgren (25.53) turned in top 50 performances, earning 41^st and 49^th, respectively, in the event.
