The team of Ernie Garza, Papito Gonzalez, Eulogio Medrano, and Hans Zlomek from D. Wilson Construction came in second, to win the use of a suite at a Vaqueros baseball game, donated by South Texas Commercial.
Coming in third was South Texas Commercial and their team of Pablo Bocanegra, Ruben Chavez, David Oliviera, and Lalo Villarreal. Their prize was a four-person golf package that included four free rounds at Brackenridge, four hours at Killers Golf, four sets of golf balls from Titleist, and custom UTRGV driver or putter covers.
"We extend our gratitude to our participants and sponsors of the 3rd Annual Golf Classic, presented by D. Wilson Construction," UTRGV Director of Golf
Houston Moore said. "The continued growth of this event reflects the strength of our community and the family atmosphere that our men's and women's teams experience here in the Valley."
"Your support enhances our programs and provides us with necessary tools for us to continue building within the SLC and NCAA," Moore continued.
Participants at the UTRGV Golf Classic, presented by D. Wilson Construction, were able to enjoy a chicken fajita lunch grilled on-site by G3 Scrap Metal, hospitality courtesy of L&F Distributors, Wing Barn gift cards for the closest to the pin and longest drive competitions, and a hole in one competition sponsored by Golf Cart Crossing.
In addition to the support from sponsors, UTRGV student-athletes were able to join the fun as teams could purchase two drives hit by members of our men's and women's golf teams.
