RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that junior Koree Cotton, of the men's basketball team, is the UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week.
 
Cotton helped the Vaqueros go 1-1 this week, earning a 63-50 win over Austin Peay Sunday.
 
On Sunday, Cotton led the charge, notching his first career double-double, with a career-high 22 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Cotton also added three blocks, three assists, and one steal in the win. He was also the primary defender for Austin Peay's leading scorer entering the game and helped hold him to six points.
 
On Wednesday, Cotton scored 11 points while grabbing eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in the loss to Stephen F. Austin.
 
On the season, Cotton leads the Vaqueros in four major categories, including, points per game (12.3), assists per game (2.6), blocks per game (1.0), and steals per game (1.1).
