KINGSVILLE – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) outdoor track & field teams had another stellar outing at the Cactus Cup at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville Saturday, setting three meet records and two program records.
Junior
Corin Burns was dynamic, breaking the meet record as won both the men's 100- and 200-meter dashes. Burns ran a personal best 10.17 in the 100 dash, setting a UTRGV outdoor program record with the blazing time. Burns ran 20.98 in the 200 dash, good for the No. 2 spot in the program record books.
Junior
Nayla Harris also ran a meet record in the women's 100-meter dash, winning the event in 11.44, which is the No. 2 time in program history.

Jizzale Davis broke their own program record with a time of 3:44.21 to take second.
The Vaqueros won 11 events – three in the field competitions and eight on the track. Sophomore
Keamonie Archie won the men's long jump with a mark of 7.05 meters. Junior
Achol Maywin tied her personal best and the No. 3 clearance in program history of 1.72 meters to win the women's high jump. Sophomore
Tolu Odetola won the women's triple jump with a personal best mark of 12.17 meters.
UTRGV's 100-meter dashers had a big day. Junior

Richard Young all tabbed personal bests and entered the program record books in the men's race, finishing third, fifth and sixth, respectively. In the women's race, Davis, Adams and Kirk finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, while Adams clocked a personal best. The Vaqueros swept the 100 victories.
Adding to the short race success, freshman
Trezur Connley won the women's 100-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 14.09. In the men's 110-meter hurdles, junior
Jaylen Critton took second in a personal best time of 14.22, taking the No. 2 spot in UTRGV outdoor history.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Romo, Harts, Archie and Burns won the event in their first race of the season. Their time of 40.35 is the fifth-best in program history
UTRGV won the men's 400-meter dash and 400-meter hurdles. Junior
Derrius Henry was victorious in the 400 flat, running 47.61. Senior
Daniel Siaffa took the long hurdles in 53.93.
Senior
Samantha Gonzalez won the women's 1,500-meter run in 4:51.52. Following close behind were teammates
Lilliana Guerrero in second and PSJA High alum
Faith Cruz in third. In the men's 1,500, sophomore McAllen Rowe alum
Kevin Cardenas finished ninth.
Gonzalez also competed in the women's 400-meter hurdles for the first time in her career in preparation for the steeplechase. She took sixth. Also running in an off-event was sophomore
Kailey Salazar, who took fifth in the women's 400-meter dash and even running a sub-1:00 time of 57.95. Connley stepped out of her ordinary races and took 17
th in the women's 200-meter dash.
Senior
Efe Latham competed in three of four throwing events on the day, taking second in the women's javelin and third in the women's shot put. Senior
Kailah Gilmore marked a season-best 5.89 meters in the women's long jump to finish second.
Freshman PSJA Memorial alum
Diego Pina took second in the men's 800-meter run. Rounding out the day was UTRGV's men's 4x400-meter relay team of Critton, Burns, Romo and junior
Jalen Nero, which took sixth.
The Vaqueros tabbed eight personal bests and made 11 entries into the outdoor record books. Their next meet will be the J. Fred Duckett Twilight April 26 in Houston.
