Nayla Harris and
Corin Burns set program records Saturday as The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) outdoor track & field teams competed at the Texas A&M Alumni Muster at E.B. Cushing Stadium in the final non-conference meet of the season.
Harris broke her own program record in the women's 100-meter dash as she took third in a loaded field, running a personal best time of 11.22. She was the only mid-major competitor in the top five, finishing behind a pair of A&M runners and beating a trio of Baylor athletes.
Burns took the No. 1 spot in the men's 200-meter dash record books with his fourth-place finish in 20.84, a personal record.
Sophomore
Kailey Salazar earned the win in the women's 800-meter run, running 2:09.91. She was .50 seconds short of her personal best and took the No. 4 spot in program history with the race. Junior
Lilliana Guerrero followed in fifth in 2:12.99.
UTRGV's first three races of the day resulted in four top-10 finishes. The 4x100-meter relay teams were sharp once again, with the men's team taking second and the women's team finishing third. Burns, freshman

Senior
Samantha Gonzalez and junior PSJA High alum
Faith Cruz were fourth and sixth, respectively in the women's 5,000-meter relay run early in the morning. Gonzalez's time of 17:28.68 is seventh-best in program history.
Burns led UTRGV's men's 100-meter dash group with a fifth-place finish in 10.35, the No. 3 time in program history. Young was 12
th in the 100 and 17
th in the 200 with a personal best time of 21.20, which is the No. 8 race in program history. Junior
Jalen Nero tabbed a personal best in the 200 and a season best in the 100.
Junior
Hannah Hilding had another solid day with a pair of top-5 finishes. She got her day started with a season-best mark of 59.44 meters to take second in the women's hammer throw, notching the No. 8 toss in program history with a clutch final throw. Hilding took fourth in discus, recording a personal best for the second consecutive meet as she threw 49.97 meters.
Senior
Efe Latham also made finals in two throwing events and looked solid in the final non-conference tune-up. She took third in women's shot put with a mark of 14.48 meters and was ninth in hammer throw.
Junior
Achol Maywin cleared 1.73 meters to finish seventh in the women's high jump. Her clearance was a personal best and the No. 3 jump in program history.
UTRGV's freshman women's hurdle duo earned a pair of top-10 finishes in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
Trezur Connley was eighth with a personal best time of 13.98, and Bright followed in 10
th in 14.05. Bright also took 14
th in the 400-meter hurdles.
Adams led UTRGV's women's 400-meter group with a 14
th place finish in 56.28. Senior
Trinity Kirk followed in 15
th and junior Brownsville Hanna alum
Aliyah Castillo was 18
th. In the men's 400, Arellano took 10
th in 47.28 and junior
Derrius Henry followed close behind in 11
th. Senior
Daniel Siaffa ran a season-best 53.36 to finish eighth in the men's 400-meter hurdles.
Davis tabbed a pair of 16
th-place finishes in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. She led the Vaqueros women's 200 runners in 24.18 while Connley recorded her second personal best of the day with a 26.55 time in the 200.
Junior
Abraham Morales had another consistent performance in the men's 1,500-meter run as he finished 16
th. His time of 3:55.35 was .06 seconds off a personal best and his third consecutive race in the 3:55 range.
The Vaqueros saw both men's triple jumpers make the final. Junior
Aaron Cooper finished sixth with a mark of 15.03 meters and sophomore
Hebrew Hunter took eighth. Senior
Kailah Gilmore was eighth with a mark of 5.86 meters in the women's long jump, while sophomore
Keamonie Archie was 10
th in the men's event.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Burns, Arellano, Siaffa and Henry closed the day with a season-best time of 3:11.25 to finish fourth. It was the third-best race in program history.
UTRGV finished the meet with eight personal bests and 11 new entries into the outdoor program record books. Up next for the Vaqueros will be the Southland Conference (SLC) Outdoor Championships in Houston set for May 15-17.
