RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that junior Hannah Hilding, of the women's track & field team, is the Killers Golf UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week.
 
Hilding competed in the hammer throw at NCAA West First Round last week. She was one of eight outdoor track & field athletes to qualify.
 
On her second attempt in the first round, Hilding tossed 58.43 meters, the No. 10 mark in program history, to finish 24^th. She moved up six spots from her qualifying rank and improved her regional finish from last year by eight positions.
 
Hilding, a two-time regional qualifier, won the program's first Southland Conference (SLC) outdoor championship after taking gold in the women's hammer throw.
