Women's Basketball Adds Eight for 2025-26

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros head women's basketball coach Lane Lord announced on Monday the addition of eight student-athletes to the 2025-26 roster, including Ivy Brown, Chazlyn Dettor, Noa Feller, Mataya Hall, Elise Horne, Jalayah Ingram, Erin Maguire, and Rylie Whitehair. 
 
"The women's basketball players and staff are excited about our new signees for the 2025-26 season," Lord said. "With our new class coming in this summer, we have been able to address our needs at the four and five positions. Brown, Whitehair, Dettor and Horne will all be welcomed additions to our forwards group. We also added depth at the point guard position with two junior transfers in Maguire and Ingram. At the three-guard spot, we added Feller and Hall. 
 
"The incoming class is a mix of five talented freshmen and three experienced transfers. With six returners on the roster, the competition in practice will make our team better for the upcoming season. We're excited to get going," he added. 
 
Ivy Brown | Junior | Forward | 6-0 | Leithfield, New Zealand | Florida Southwestern State
Brown comes to UTRGV after two seasons with Florida Southwestern State (FSW) playing in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). In 2024-25, Brown helped FSW win the Citrus Conference Championship and was named to the All-Conference Second Team. She started in all 31 games and averaged 30.8 minutes per game as she led the team in field goal percentage to aid a Sweet 16 run in the NJCAA national tournament. Brown averaged 10.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.5 blocks per game last season and shot an impressive 56.2% from the field. She was named the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Player of the Week once as a sophomore. In 2023-24, Brown averaged 12.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game and led the team shooting 55% from the field. 
 
Prior to her collegiate ball, Brown was a multi-sport athlete at St. Margaret's College in New Zealand. As a senior, she averaged a whopping 30 PPG and 12 RPG. Brown has a brother, Walter, who plays professional basketball with the Tasmania JackJumpers. 
 
Chazlyn Dettor | Freshman | Forward | 6-1 | Killeen, Texas | Chaparral High School 
Dettor was a "foundational figure" for a brand-new girl's basketball program in the Chaparral Lady Bobcats. She led the squad to back-to-back district, bi-district and area championships in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, which were only the second and third seasons in school history. 
 
As a senior, Dettor averaged 22 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks per game. She was named the District 16-5A Offensive Player of the Year and made the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches 2-5A All-Region Team. Dettor was also an All-District First Team selection in 2023-24 and earned All-Academic nods, too. She set single-game program records of 37 points and 18 rebounds during her senior season. 
 
Noa Feller | Freshman | Forward | 6-0 | Modi'in Macabim Reut, Israel | Hof HaSharon High School 
Feller put together a successful career playing internationally while representing Israel. She competed at the 2023 FIBA U18 Women's European Championship and at the 2021 FIBA U16 Women's European Challengers with the Israeli national teams. From 2023-25, she played for the second division women's team at the Ramat HaSharon Women's Basketball Club and averaged nine points, 10 rebounds and three assists per game. 
 
Feller is an honors graduate from Hof HaSharon High School and an alumna of the Wingate Institute Basketball Academy, where she helped the team to first-place finishes in both the U18 League and the second division Women's National League three years in a row. 
 
Mataya Hall | Freshman | Guard | 5-9 | Tulsa, Oklahoma | Memorial High School
Hall was one of the top high school players in Oklahoma, earning All-State honors as a senior from the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association as she was the fourth-best scorer in the state. She averaged 20.9 points per game and led the state with 164 free throw makes. She made 33 three-pointers and averaged 2.7 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game in 2024-25. As a junior, Hall dropped 20.6 PPG and made 152 free throws. She was the top scorer at the 5A level for two consecutive seasons. 
 
Prior to starring at Memorial High School, Hall helped Sapulpa High School win the 2022-23 5A state championship. She averaged 10 points, three rebounds, 2.9 assists and one steal per game as a sophomore. Hall was a two-time conference, area and regional champion and earned two All-District First Team nods during her high school career. She also played AAU ball with Missouri 17U Nike. 
 
Hall is a coach's kid and played for her father, Rodrick, who played collegiate basketball at Fort Hays State. Her mother, Brandi, played volleyball at Seminole State. 
 
Elise Horne | Freshman | Forward | 6-2 | Orlando, Florida | Dr. Phillips High School
Horne had a dominant high school career at Dr. Phillips, winning three 7A state championships while amassing a 103-22 (.824) record. As a senior, Horne scored 5.4 points per game while hauling in 9.4 rebounds per game and recorded three double-doubles as she ranked in the top five in 7A for rebounding. She was the team captain and the senior class president in 2024-25. In her junior season, Horne averaged 8.1 rebounds and 4.3 points per game as she was named a 2024 junior standout. Horne's sophomore season saw the squad go 30-2 en route to the state title and she contributed 3.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 0.6 steals per game. 
 
Horne was also a standout shot putter. She won the Junior Olympic Shot Put National Championship in 2016 and was the 2019 Orange County Middle School Shot Put Champion. She comes from an athletic family – Horne's father, Dwayne, played football at Florida A&M and she has two brothers, Donovan and Dylan, who are track & field student-athletes at Alabama A&M and Tusculum, respectively. Dylan also plays football at Tusculum. 
 
Jalayah Ingram | Junior | Guard | 5-9 | Pearland, TX | McLennan Community College 
Ingram joins UTRGV after two solid seasons playing with McLennan in the NJCAA. She helped the team two back-to-back North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference championships. Last season, Ingram earned All-Conference First Team honors as she helped the team win the Region V championship to secure a spot in the NJCAA Div. I Women's Basketball National Championship tournament. 
 
In 2024-25, Ingram started all 32 games at McLennan and led the team in scoring averaging 15.3 points per game. She shot 81% from the free throw line and averaged 5.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game. As a freshman, Ingram contributed 7.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.9 steals per game. 
 
Prior to her two seasons at McLennan, Ingram – who goes by the nickname "Bunny" – was a standout at Houston Christian High School. She set the school record for career steals with 261 and was a Team MVP, Female Athlete of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year honoree. 
 
Erin Maguire | Junior | Guard | 5-7 | Belfast, Northern Ireland | Houston Christian
Maguire comes to UTRGV after playing two seasons with Southland Conference opponent Houston Christian. Maguire redshirted her true freshman season in 2022-23, then averaged 5.1 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.26 assists per game as a redshirt freshman in 2023-24. Last season, she made 25 starts and was the team's leading scorer with 9.4 points per game. She also led the team with 2.4 assists per game and tabbed 2.5 rebounds per game. Maguire was named to the SLC All-Academic Second Team. 
 
Prior to HCU, Maguire played for The Hun School in New Jersey and internationally with various Northern Ireland National Teams. At The Hun School, she was the Student-Athlete of the Year and Trentonian Co-Prep Player of the Year in 2022 while earning 1st Team All-Area honors. She averaged 20 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.6 steals and 3.8 assists per game. 
 
In Northern Ireland, Maguire played club basketball with Ulster University and averaged 24 points, eight rebounds, three assists and four steals per game. She won seven Northern Ireland Club Championships from 2013-19, helped her team to the Senior Women's National Cup semifinals in 2020 and 2019 and to the 2020 U20 Women's National Cup finals, and won the senior Women's Northern Conference Championship in 2019. 
 
Rylie Whitehair | Freshman | Forward | 6-2 | Gallup, New Mexico | Gallup High School
Whitehair was a two-time Class 4A state champion while starring for the Gallup Lady Bengals, accumulating an impressive record of 106-21 (.834) in her four-year varsity career. Last season, she led Gallup with 17 points and 12 rebounds in the state championship game. She was a three-time New Mexico High School Coaches Association All-State First Team honoree and a three-time district player of the year. 
 
Whitehair was the team captain and earned Senior of the Year honors at her high school. She surpassed 1,000 career points and was the No. 4 ranked player in New Mexico in the 2025 class.
