HOUSTON – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team finished their run with two singles wins at the Rice Invitational Sunday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
 
Sophomore Madeleine Joffe pulled through in a tough, back-and-forth first set to win 7-5 before downing UT San Antonio's Ayra Salim with a swift 6-1 victory in the second to earn her first win of the fall.
 
In flight six, sophomore Mariia Bakhtina bounced back after a 6-4 loss in the first set, winning the next two sets 7-5 and 6-1 to secure a win over UT San Antonio's Giuliana Giardina for her first win of the weekend.

Up next for the Vaqueros is Texas State's River State Shoot-Out from Oct. 4-5.
