RIO GRANDE VALLEY –The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Wednesday that a record 245 Vaqueros earned a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll by achieving a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.25 while serving as full-time students as part of a team throughout the fall semester.
The AD Honor Roll recipients will be recognized at halftime of the women's basketball game against Lamar on Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse, the first game during #RallyTheValley Week.
The Vaqueros combined for a 3.28 fall GPA and the department's cumulative GPA now stands at 3.35.
One hundred eighty-eight student-athletes recorded a GPA of at least 3.50 to earn Dean's List recognition, including 73 student-athletes that finished the semester with perfect 4.0 GPAs.
By percentage, 63.80% of student-athletes earned a spot on the AD Honor Roll, 48.96% earned Dean's List recognition, and 19.01% recorded 4.0 GPAs.

Chasse Conque said. "The hard work our student-athletes are doing now will set them up for excellence in life. I am grateful for their dedication and that of our academic services team and coaches for their commitment to our student-athletes' work in the classroom."
Sixteen sport programs posted a team GPA of at least 3.10, including nine with GPAs above 3.25, led by women's basketball, which recorded a 3.75 GPA, as a department-high 92.86% student-athletes (13 of 14) earned spots on the Dean's List, including 42.86% (six) with 4.0 GPAs, the best among women's teams. The only teams with a higher percentage of AD Honor Roll recipients were the tennis teams, which each had 100%, including all 10 for men's tennis and all nine for women's tennis. Men's golf had the highest percentage of Dean's List honorees among men's teams at 66.67% (six of nine) while men's tennis had the highest percentage of 4.0 GPAs at 50% (five of 10).
Football had a department-high 57 student-athletes earn AD Honor Roll recognition, a department-high 40 student-athletes on the Dean's List, and a department-high 14 student-athletes achieve 4.0 GPAs. Among women's teams, track & field/cross country and soccer tied for the most AD Honor Roll recipients with 22. Women's track & field/cross country also led among women's teams with 19 Dean's List honorees and nine 4.0 GPAs.
