RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The Southland Conference (SLC) announced on Thursday that The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's golf freshman Kanyanat Kamphoo was named SLC Women's Golfer of the Week.

This is Kamphoo's first career SLC Women's Golfer of the Week award and UTRGV's second weekly honor this season.

Kamphoo led the Vaqueros with a career-best, one-over 217 at the Diamante Intercollegiate to finish in a tie for 22^nd. She was the highest-finishing SLC golfer in the tournament that included East Texas A&M, Houston Christian, Stephen F. Austin, and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Kamphoo's 217 is tied for the sixth-best individual three-round score in program history and the team score of 884 is tied for the fifth-lowest three-round team score in program history.

With eight birdies, Kamphoo tied her career-high for birdies in a tournament. Her one-under first round is the lowest score she's posted in her career.

The Vaqueros wrapped up their fall at the Diamante Intercollegiate and will open the spring season with the GCOH Invitational, hosted by Houston, at the Golf Club of Houston on Feb. 8.
