WICHITA, Kan. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's golf team closed out the PD Intercollegiate, hosted by Oklahoma, on Monday at Wichita Country Club.
Freshman
Avery Glanzer tied for 11
th to lead the Vaqueros with an individual score of 213 (70-74-69), the second-best performance in program history. Additionally, she led the team to the fourth-best showing at a tournament in program history with a score of 882.
The Vaqueros finished the tournament in 10
th, four strokes ahead of Toledo (886). Oklahoma (839), Missouri (841), Santa Clara (850), BYU (854) and Nebraska (855) claimed the top five spots.
Glanzer's final round was a two-under 69 with three birdies. It is tied for the fourth-best round in program history and tied for the best round this season. As a team, UTRGV carded 26 birdies over the two days.
Fellow freshman
Kanyanat Kamphoo finished 51
st with a three-round score of 224, including a 78 on the final day. Not far behind were senior
Natalia Rodriguez and junior
Miriam Barcalova, who tied for 52
nd, each finishing the tournament with an overall score of 225. Junior
Zoe Hobbs rounded out the team, shooting a 77 on the final day to take 60
th place.
UTRGV will travel to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, for the Diamante Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock from Oct. 18-20 at the Diamante Country Club.
