RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis program will return home, after playing five consecutive matches on the road, Thursday as they host the Utah State (USU) Aggies Thursday at Orville Cox Tennis Center.
Last Time Out
UTRGV battled hard against No. 10 Texas Sunday, with senior
Barbara Martinez taking the first set over
Carmen Herea, the number two player in the country, 7-6 (7:3). However, Herea bounced back to take the match.
Sophomore
Mariia Bakhtina bounced back from a 6-0 first set loss, pushing
Kate Mansfield in the second set, but ultimately falling 7-5.

Hitakamya Narwal pushed the Texas duo in a very competitive set on court three but ultimately lost 6-4.
Scouting the Aggies
The Vaqueros will host Utah State Thursday at 11 a.m. at Orville Cox Tennis Center. All matches at Orville Cox Tennis Center are free and open to the public.
This will be the first ever matchup between these two programs.
USU, a member of the Mountain West Conference, is 4-3 on the season with all their wins coming against NCAA DI competition. They have beaten Idaho State, Montana, Utah Tech, and Weber State. Meanwhile, their losses have come against Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, and Utah.
Leading the way for the Aggies is freshman
Terezia Mlkva who has garnered a 5-2 record at No. 1 singles. USU also has a winning record, 4-3, on court two in singles.
Meanwhile, in doubles, the Aggies have winning records on court two, 5-2, and court three, 4-1.
