– The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that senior
O'Keefe recorded back-to-back double-doubles averaging 20.5 points, 18.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists per game this week, including scoring her 1,000
th career point at McNeese on Thursday. O'Keefe is the only student-athlete in program history to have 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in their career.
At McNeese, O'Keefe's scored 18 points and grabbed 18 rebounds while recording five assists, two steals, and one block. She led the Vaqueros in a game that pushed the current No. 1 team in the conference to the brink in a 60-53 loss in Lake Charles, La.
At Southeastern on Saturday, O'Keefe scored a career-high tying 23 points with 19 rebounds, four assists, and one block.
On the season, O'Keefe leads the conference and is top 25 in the nation in several statistical categories, including rebounds per game (2
nd in the nation), defensive rebounds per game (3
rd), offensive rebounds per game (9
th), total rebounds (11
th), double-doubles (19
th), and minutes per game (21
st). O'Keefe is also top 100 in the nation in blocks per game (50
th in the nation) and total blocks (91
st).
UTRGV is currently tied for second in the Southland Conference standings with home games against Northwestern State, East Texas A&M, and Incarnate Word on the schedule this week.
