COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Sophomore
Manou Meulebeek scored a 258.95 to earn a program-high 22
nd place in the 1-meter springboard at the NCAA Zone "D" Diving Championships Monday at Texas A&M's Student Recreation Center.
Meulebeek narrowly missed the cut for the finals as the top 18 finishers advanced to the next round. Meulebeek improved from her performance at last year's zone championships where she scored 252.35 to finish 34
th.
Meulebeek opened the competition with her best dive of the day, earning a 50.70 overall score, with two individual scores of 7.0.
From there, Meulebeek scored well, achieving a score of 40 or more on four of her remaining five dives, including a stellar mark of 46.80. She earned five individual scores of 7.0 on the day.
Meulebeek will compete tomorrow alongside 54 of the best divers in Zone D in the 3-meter springboard preliminary round. If she reaches the finals, it will take place immediately after the preliminary round. The top 10 finishers from the 3-meter springboard will qualify for the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships.
