RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's golf team learned on Tuesday that
Miriam Barcalova,
Zoe Hobbs,
Natalia Rodriguez, and
Preston Saiz have earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Honors.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least a 3.50 and must have been in the lineup for 75% of their team scoring events or in the lineup at the conference championship tournament.
Barcalova was named the Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year while earning a spot on the All-Conference First Team. Barcalova posted a 77.0 scoring average over 11 events in 2025-26.
Barcalova recorded a pair of top-10 finishes this season with a seventh place finish at the Islanders Collegiate and a second place finish at the Southland Conference Championship. Barcalova finished with an even par three-round score of 216 while sinking the par putt to secure the win for the Vaqueros.
Hobbs posted a 77.0 scoring average over nine events this past season while posting three top-20 finishes. She posted a seventh place finish at the Islanders Collegiate Invitational and added a 15
th place finish at the Texas State Invitational and a 16
th place finish at the Riverbend Intercollegiate.
Rodriguez was named to the All-Conference Second Team marking back-to-back seasons earning all-conference honors. Rodriguez led the Vaqueros with a 76.8 stroke average across 11 events this past season.
Rodriguez posted three top-15 finishes this season with a sixth place finish at the Southland Conference Championship. She also added a 14
th place finish at the Lady Clerico and a 14
th place finish at the Islanders Collegiate.
Saiz posted a 78.2 scoring average over nine events as she posted a pair of top-15 finishes. She finished 12
th at the Southland Conference Championship and added a 10
th place finish at the Riverbend Intercollegiate.
The four honorees were all in the lineup at the Southland Conference Championship where the Vaqueros won their first-ever conference championship to earn a trip to the program's first NCAA Regional.
