RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's soccer team announced on Friday their full 2026 schedule which features 10 regular season home matches.
 
Five home matches will come during non-conference play and the other five will come against conference opponents including the reigning Southland Conference (SLC) Tournament Champion and NCAA Tournament representative, Houston Christian University (HCU).
 
"Having 10 home games gives us a tremendous opportunity to connect with the Rio Grande Valley and create a strong home-field environment," head women's soccer coach Nataki Stewart said. "It will be exciting to welcome our summer campers and their families back to campus to experience UTRGV Women's Soccer firsthand."
 
The Vaqueros will open the season with an exhibition against Monterrey Tech at Sams Memorial Stadium for their Brownsville Soccer Night on Aug. 8. UTRGV's regular season and home opener will come against Texas Southern on Aug. 13. The Vaqueros hold a 3-2-2 record all-time against the Tigers.
 
The Vaqueros will then make their first road trip as they visit Texas State on Aug. 16. They will have a chance to test their strength against the 2025 Sun Belt Tournament Champions and current Pac-12 institution.
 
UTRGV will then come back home for a match with Prairie View A&M on Aug. 20 before hitting the road for a match at Tarleton on Aug. 27.
 
The Vaqueros will host Texas A&M International on Aug. 30 before heading to Huntsville for a match with Sam Houston on Sept. 3.
 
UTRGV will conclude non-conference play with a two-match homestand featuring UTEP on Sept. 10 and Concordia on Sept. 13.
 
"Our non-conference schedule gives us a great opportunity to establish our identity as a team," Stewart said. "The variety of opponents will challenge us in different ways and prepare us to compete at our best when Southland Conference play begins."
 
The Vaqueros will open SLC play with a two-match road trip starting with their visit to Lamar on Sept. 17 and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sept. 24. The match against the Islanders will count for three points in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Rally Credit Union.
 
UTRGV will then return home for their match with reigning tournament champions HCU on Sept. 27.
 
After enjoying a bye week, the Vaqueros will host McNeese on Oct. 8 before traveling to Hammond, La. for a match against Southeastern on Oct. 11.
 
UTRGV will then return home for a two-match swing, starting with Nicholls on Oct. 15 and ending against Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 22.
 
The Vaqueros will head up to San Antonio for a contest with UIW on Oct. 25 before returning home to face East Texas A&M on Nov. 1.
 
UTRGV will round out the regular season with a trip to reigning SLC Champions Northwestern State on Nov. 5.
 
The SLC tournament, hosted at East Texas A&M, will run from Nov. 10-15 in Commerce, Texas. The champion of the SLC tournament will receive an automatic bid into the 2026 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament which will start on Nov. 20.
