Reigning SLC Champion Women’s Golf Announces 2026-27 Schedule

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the complete 2026-27 schedule for the reigning Southland Conference (SLC) Champion Vaqueros women's golf team on Monday.
 
"This schedule will test us as a program but will ready us to compete come April," UTRGV Director of Golf Houston Moore said. "We will be playing against strong fields throughout the year, traveling to different regions of the country, and playing a wide variety of course styles and conditions. Those experiences will test our course management and ability to adjust quickly."
 
The Vaqueros open the fall with the Bear Brawl, hosted by Northern Colorado, from Sept. 7-8 at Greeley Country Club.
 
UTRGV will then head to Oklahoma for Lady Clerico, hosted by Oral Roberts, from Sept. 14-15 at Hillcrest Country Club. The Vaqueros competed at the Lady Clerico last year, posting a fifth-place finish among the 12 competing teams.
 
The Vaqueros will then head to the University of Oklahoma Intercollegiate at Wichita Country Club which will run from Oct. 5-6. The fall season will conclude at the Diamante Intercollegiate, hosted by Little Rock, at the Diamante Country Club from Oct. 18-20.
 
UTRGV will return to the course on Feb. 8 when they head to Houston's Golf Club of Houston Invitational before competing at the TAMUCC's Islander Classic from Feb. 15-16 at Corpus Christi Country Club for the first round of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Rally Credit Union.
 
The Vaqueros will open March with a trip to Abilene Country Club for the West Texas Classic, hosted by Abilene Christian, from March 1-2. The Vaqueros will complete a quick turnaround as they compete at the Riverbend Intercollegiate, hosted by Houston Christian University, at Riverbend Country Club from March 8-9.
 
UTRGV will conclude March with UT Arlington's More Than Golf Invitational at Brookhaven Country Club, which is set to run from March 20-22.
 
The Vaqueros will host their first and only competition of the season as they welcome the Islanders for the annual South Texas Match Play on April 2 at Champion Lakes Golf Course for the second round of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Rally Credit Union.
 
UTRGV will have its final tune-up at the Boilermaker Spring Invite, hosted by Purdue at the Ackerman-Allen Course at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex from April 11-12.
 
The Vaqueros will then look to defend their championship at the SLC Championship, which will run from April 19-21 at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas.
 
The champion will then earn the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Regionals which will be hosted by one of the top six seeds in the NCAA Women's Golf Tournament. The regionals are scheduled to run from May 10-12.
 
The NCAA Championships will be held at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. from May 21-26.
 
"By the time we arrive at Kissing Tree Golf Club for the conference championship, our players will have been challenged in every area and should be confident and prepared to compete at the SLC Championships," Moore said.
