BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's golf team earned its second consecutive top three finish to open the 2026-27 campaign with a third-place finish at Lady Clerico, hosted by Oral Roberts at Hillcrest Country Club, Tuesday.
The Vaqueros ended with a three-round score of 915. Houston Christian took the championship with a score of 906 while Oral Roberts claimed second with a 911. The Vaqueros finished ahead of East Texas A&M (916), Lamar (917), UT Arlington (921), Drake (949), and Stephen F. Austin (988).
Four UTRGV golfers ended within the top 16 in the field of 44. Leading the way for the Vaqueros were junior
Miriam Barcalova and freshman
Nerea Garrido Fernandez after carding a 77 in the final round and ending with a total score of 228.
Freshman
Kanyanat Kamphoo followed with a final round score of 78, bringing her total to 231. Meanwhile, senior
Natalia Rodriguez finished one stroke behind Kamphoo with a 79 on the final day to bring her total to 232. Kamphoo placed 15
th while Rodriguez ended in a tie for 16
th.
Meanwhile, freshman
Avery Glanzer carded an 80 in her final round, bringing her total to 238 and ending the tournament in a tie for 27
th.
The Vaqueros will turn their attention to the University of Oklahoma Intercollegiate which is scheduled to run from Oct. 5-6.
