RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's and women's tennis teams are excited to host a free youth clinic at Brownsville Tennis Center on Saturday, October 3.
 
The free clinic available for kids, ages 3-13, and will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Those interested in signing up for the youth clinic can do so at GoUTRGV.com/TennisClinic.
 
Participants of all levels, beginner to advanced, are welcome to join the clinic. For those that do not have a racket, one will be provided. The clinic will feature a demonstration from the team on fundamental skills, discuss the benefits of learning tennis, answer questions from the crowd, and provide instruction and point play during the clinic.
 
The clinic will be led by head women's tennis coach West Nott and head men's tennis coach Nathan Robinson as well as some of the current members of the tennis teams.
 
This is the seventh free clinic to be hosted in Cameron County by the tennis programs since 2021 and the seventh free clinic to be hosted in Brownsville since May 23 by UTRGV Athletics.

The enthusiasm over the years has been extremely high for tennis, and we want to keep sharing our love for tennis with the local families," Nott said. "We can't wait to jump out there and see the joy on everyone's face as we share our passion for the game. We hope to ignite more motivation for the youngsters to improve at this beautiful game Whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, please come out, get some exercise, learn more about the game, meet the teams, and bring a big smile."
 
"Being able to get on court with Div. I athletes from all over the globe is a great opportunity for our local youth to see up close what it means to be a high-level athlete," Robinson said. "They will have opportunities to ask questions and connect with them and get to know how they go about their day-to-day as a student and an athlete. We are blessed with a great group of student-athletes who love interacting with our community and helping grow tennis in the Valley!"
