GREELEY, Colo. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's golf team finished tied for second at the Bear Brawl, hosted by Northern Colorado (UNC), on Tuesday at Greeley Country Club.
 
The Vaqueros finished tied with UNC as both teams posted a three-round score of 884, trailing only St. Thomas (868) and finishing ahead of Cal State Bakersfield (909), Southern Illinois (932), and Montana (935).
 
Junior Miriam Barcalova turned in a top-five finish, tying for fourth with a three-round score of 217 after carding six-over-par in the third round. Senior Natalia Rodriguez finished tied for seventh, rising one spot, rising two spots after carding a 73 in the final round to finish the tournament at 220.
 
Junior Zoe Hobbs moved into the top 10 with a 2-over-par finish in the final round, matching her best round of the tournament. Hobbs finished in 10^th with a three-round score of 223.
 
Senior Preston Saiz, playing as an individual, posted the best round among the six Vaqueros, shooting a 72 to jump eight spots into a tie for 20^th. Saiz ended the tournament tied with freshman Avery Glanzer, both golfers turning in a three-round score of 231.
 
Freshman Kanyanat Kamphoo rounded out the tournament for the Vaqueros, finishing one stroke behind Glanzer and Saiz after finishing three-over-par in the final round, her best of the tournament.
 
The Vaqueros will turn their attention to the Lady Clerico, hosted by Oral Roberts at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville, Okla., which will start on Monday and end Tuesday.
