Talented relief pitcher from Navarro Junior College where he had an outstanding sophomore campaign last year.

Navarro Junior College: Appeared in 12 games, posting a 1-2 record with two saves... He had just a 2.49 earned run average and 16 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings of work... Was also strong at the plate, hitting .350 with 20 doubles and six home runs... He also drove in 25 runs and had 23 stolen bases... Dowd also played basketball at NJC.

Waxahachie High School: Standout at Waxahachie High School where he was named all-state twice and was District MVP as a junior... Had a career25-4 record at WHS with 200 strikeouts in just over 100 innings of work... Also had career .389 batting average with six home runs at WHS... Competed on the basketball and track and field team as well.

Personal: Dowd is the son of Karen Grier and Johnny Ray Dowd... born on June 23, 1979 in Carsicana, Texas... Has one brother, Clint... majoring in general studies.
