The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is a student let organization made up members from each team. All varsity sports have two representatives who serve on the committee. Representatives meet monthly during the academic year to discuss issues and legislation brought to them by their teammates, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the Conference and the NCAA.
Â
The mission of SAAC has six parts:
1) To assess and advise the needs for expanded education for student-athletes on various topics such as leadership training, career planning, and NCAA legislation.
2) To encourage teams to support all other teams through attendance at competitions.
3) To explore and encourage development of community outreach programs
4) To enhance communication between the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics administration and the student-athlete population.
5) To share SAAC meeting information with teammates and coaches after each meeting in a timely manner and solicit feedback when appropriate.
6) To abide by all established University policies and regulations governing student organizations and their welfare. Â
Â
SAAC has an Executive Board that is made up of a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and tradition leader. These positions are voted upon in April. Individuals are to be nominated so that their name can be placed on the voting ballot. All SAAC members will vote electronically. If there is a tie between two individuals vying for the same position they will be asked to present a speech whereupon another vote would be cast. The Executive Board is responsible for preparing for meetings and facilitating discussion. Â
Â
SAAC will meet the week before the start of the academic year to discuss vision, mission, and purpose. SAAC will also use this time to create a yearly calendar, map out initiatives, and organize sub-committees. Â
Â
It the responsibility of the Coordinator for Student Services to provide support and guidance on meeting agendas, initiatives, and organization. Additionally, the Director of Athletics and Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Services will provide support through training, one-on-one meetings, and administrative responsibilities. Â

DIVISION I
- The Division I national SAAC consists of one student-athlete from each of the 31 Division I conferences.
- Members are selected by the current Division I SAAC members from a pool of three nominees from each of the represented conferences. Each student-athlete serves a two-year term.
- The Division I SAAC reports directly to the Division I Management Council and two SAAC members participate in each meeting of the Management Council as nonvoting members. It is through this representation on the Management Council and other Division I and Association-wide committees that NCAA Division I student-athletes offer input and assist in shaping the proposed legislation by which their division is governed.
- The WAC SAAC is a proactive committee and is making a very positive impact within the WAC membership. Annually, each member institution appoints two student-athletes from its own campus SAAC to serve on the conference committee. To conduct business, the committee has one in-person meeting during the year and schedules monthly teleconference calls during the academic year.
If you have any questions relative to the WAC SAAC or its activities, please contact Marlon Edge at the conference office.
