Dear UTRGV Family,

I want to first personally thank you for your interest in and support of UTRGV Athletics. Now in my third year as Director of Athletics, I am enthusiastic about our future and proud of the young men and women that represent you, our university and the Rio Grande Valley through Division I competition.

One of the most important things to happen this past year was the expansion of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The WAC significantly expanded its footprint in Texas to include Abilene Christian, Incarnate Word, Lamar,  Sam  Houston,   Stephen  F.  Austin, and UT Arlington.  Our  league  now  has  eight  members  in  Texas,  including  UTRGV and Tarleton, giving the WAC more Texas representation than any other conference in NCAA Division  I.  Additionally,  Southern  Utah  joins  the  conference  in  2022-23,  further  strengthening  our  league. 

With so much positive change happening nationally and locally at UTRGV, we are amid exciting times and our potential has never been greater. As an investor in our program, we look forward to taking this journey with you. The role of a strong Division I athletics program has never been so important as your commitment to UTRGV has an impact on our program and the entire Rio Grande Valley. 

Whether you are a prospective first-time donor or a longtime V Club supporter, I want to emphasize the importance of your investment in UTRGV Athletics. Your support helps each of our 16 programs and 275 student-athletes achieve high marks in the classroom, in competition, and the community. We experienced significant academic success this past year, as our student-athletes earned 397 Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and 108 Academic All-WAC honors while pushing our departmental cumulative grade point average to 3.23. 

You can assist our efforts in any of the following ways:

• Support the V Club at any membership level
• Purchase season or single-game tickets and attend events
• Get your orange on
• Recruit your family members, friends, and coworkers to do the same

I hope you are as impressed as I am with the success of UTRGV Athletics and the growth we have witnessed together over the years. As we continue to grow Division I athletics in the Valley, I am confident the success we experience together will only enhance the brand and identity of our region.
