Norberto Lopez

Norberto Lopez joined the Broncs as an assistant coach starting with the 2009 season. He was promoted to associate head coach prior to the 2015 season.
 
Lopez brings experience from all levels of baseball as he’s worked with high school, college and youth national teams while also playing professionally.
 
Lopez was drafted as a catcher by the Anaheim Angels in 1999 and spent three years in the system. He advanced as far as AAA in 2001 and made one appearance in major league camp.
 
In his most recent coaching experience, Lopez was an assistant coach for Florida Atlantic University where he helped his team achieve a .341 batting average with 93 homeruns in 2007, and a .321 batting average with 99 homeruns in 2008. Prior to that, Lopez spent two years at Broward Community College from 2004 through 2006 where he led the team to a third place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association World Series. Serving as the hitting and catching coach, he saw his team hit .301, set the home run record at the state tournament and win the Florida Community College Activities Association state title.
 
Lopez’s hard work paid off as he was named the hitting and catching coach for the USA Baseball Youth National Team during the summer of 2006. He guided the team to a gold medal at the COPABE ‘AA’ Youth Pan Am Championships in Venezuela.
 
Lopez graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1999. In 2006, he earned a master’s in exceptional student education from Nova Southeastern.
 
Lopez currently resides in Edinburg with his wife, Cheryl, and their sons Niko and Mason.
