Tim Anderson

Tim Anderson

Tim Anderson joined the Broncs as an assistant coach starting with the 2011-12 season.

Anderson came to UTPA after spending the previous three seasons as the head boy’s basketball coach at Crane Technical Preparatory High School in Chicago, Illinois. Anderson earned a 63-24 record as head coach of the Cougars, restoring success to one of the traditional basketball power schools in Chicago.

He was twice named Coach of the Year for his district and led the Cougars to three playoff berths and two “Sweet 16” appearances. Last season, Anderson coached Crane to the “Elite 8” of the public school playoffs, finishing with a record of 25-4.

Anderson was a student-athlete at Division II Oklahoma Panhandle State University, where he was named All-Heartland Conference Honorable Mention after his senior season. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies in May 2006.

After a brief stint as a police officer in Goodwell, Oklahoma, Anderson began his coaching career at his alma mater as an associate coach, where he handled player development, recruitment and community relations for the program.

Anderson moved back to the Windy City in 2007, when he became an assistant men’s basketball coach at Malcom X College. His duties included recruitment, player development and game coaching.

From UTPA Head Coach Ryan Marks:

“Tim Anderson is a someone that I recruited when he was a high school senior, coached against while he was a collegiate player, and observed as a high school coach and he has always exuded intensity and integrity,” Coach Marks said. I think the combination of Nick Bennett, Joel Weiss, and Tim Anderson has the potential to be one of the best young coaching staffs in all of NCAA Division I basketball.”
