Armen Kirakossian

UTPA Athletics named former Broncs men's golfer Armen Kirakossian the men's golf head coach on August 18, 2014.
 
In his first season as the Broncs head coach, Kirakossian led Nicolas Platret to an Individual Western Athletic Conference title while Platret also earned First Team All-WAC honors.
 
Under Kirakossian’s guidance, Platret became the first Bronc to qualify for an NCAA Tournament, since David Steffan did so in 1978. Platret was selected to compete at the NCAA Regional Tournament in Lubbock, Texas, where he opened with a career-best five-under par 66 and even held a share of the lead in the final round before finishing tied for 14th
 
Kirakossian was a member of the Broncs from 2006-10. He won the individual medal at the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championships as a senior while also earning America Sky First Team All-Conference honors.
 
As a junior, Kirakossian won the Great West Conference Championship while earning First Team All-Conference, UTPA Male Student-Athlete of the Year and Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholar honors.
 
Kirakossian shot a program record 204 (67, 66, 71) at the 2009 PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championships. His second round 66 is the third lowest single-round score in program history.
 
Kirakossian played professionally from 2011-14 on the Golden State Tour, PGA Tour Latino American, PGA Tour China and PGA Mexico Tour. He also spent three months during 2013 living in Marbella, Spain competing on the Gecko Pro Tour. Kirakossian also competed in the Texas State Open from 2012-14 while finishing in 11th place in 2012.
