2006 Season (Sophomore)
Avila posted a standout season for Texas Southern during his sophomore campaign where he guided the Tigers to a Southwestern Athletic Conference title and a berth into the NCAA Tournamnet... recorded an 8-6 record at the number-one singles' position and 15-5 record at the number-one doubles' position en route to earning first team All-SWAC honors.

2005 Season Freshman
In his first season with Texas Southern, Avila recorded a 4-0 record in doubles' action and 3-1 record in number-one singles' competition in the Southwestern Athletic Conference action. 

Prep Career
During his prep career in Mexico City, Mexico, Avila was ranked as high as 18th in the nation during the 2004 season and defeated several Davis Cup performers... held victories over Davis Cup competitors from Cuba, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nigeria... competed in ITF, ATP, FMT, and AMTP tournaments... was ranked 10th in Mexico in junior tournament action and reached the semifinals in the Futures' Tournament in two consecutive seasons.

Avila is the son of Manuel and Moncia Avila... was born on Feb. 27, 1984... has one sister -Noria... majoring in marketing.
