EDINBURG, Texas - University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) women's tennis team fell 4-0 to the University of New Orleans (UNO) Privateers Monday March 22 at the University Tennis Center in New Orleans, La.
In doubles action, Lady Broncs Nina Ciric and Reetta Raty defeated New Orleans' Amber Garza and Ceara Howey 8-6. Megan Bedeau and Luisa Cantu dropped a close set 6-8 to Cassandra Escobar and Kozue Matsumoto. Ultimately, the Privateers earned the doubles point 8-2 over Andrea Salvetova and Sarah Burton.
Raty started singles play strong at line three for the Lady Broncs, winning the first game against UNO's Kristina Martic 6-1, but fell 5-3 in game two, with the third game going unfinished. Ultimately, UNO's automatic point at line six due to an UPTA injury hurt the Lady Broncs leaving three lines unfinished.
""We put in a good effort today, especially in doubles. We missed a lot balls we shouldn't have missed, but we will work hard this week and fix those mistakes," head coach Chris Taylor said.
The Lady Broncs will be back in action at home March 29 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and March 30 when they host McNeese State at the Orville Cox Center.
