HOUSTON - The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) women's tennis team swept the Prairie View A & M University (PVAMU) Panthers 7-0 Saturday, April 10 at the John E. Hoff Courts on the University of Houston campus.

The Lady Broncs got off to a great start earning the doubles point where Luisa Cantu and Megan Bedeau defeated the Panther's Nicole Banks and Melissa Guerrier 8-6, and Nina Ciric and Reetta Raty topped Lareto Ndlovu and Alejandra Barerra 8-3. Sarah Burton and Andrea Salvetova won by default.

Taking the point at each line in singles competition, Cantu defeated Guerrier 6-4, 6-1 at line one. Ciric claimed the No. 2 spot 6-2, 6-2 over Ndlovu, and Bedeau defeated Barerra 6-0, 6-2 at line three. Lady Bronc Raty took line four 6-1, 6-0 over Berry and Salvetova edged Karenzie 6-3, 6-2. Burton claimed No. 6 by default.

"It was a great win and gave the girls some confidence. There was a rain delay, and we were not sure if we were going to play indoors or outdoors, but even with all the confusion, we came out and took care of business. It was really a good game," graduate assistant coach Maria Klokotzky said.

The Lady Broncs play their last match of the regular season against the University of Louisiana-Monroe Sunday, April 11 at 10 a.m. in Houston.
