EDINBURG, Texas -- The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team (9-1) hosts the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Islanders (10-10) in a doubleheader on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Tickets are still available and can be purchased in person at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium box office. Gates open at 2:00 p.m.

  • The Broncs snapped a nine-game losing streak against the Aggies with a 5-3 win. The Broncs had last defeated the Aggies on April 6, 2002, a game that also took place in College Station.
  • It was the Broncs' first win over a ranked team since Manny Mantrana took over as head coach in 2009.
  • Chris Torres drove in the Broncs' final three runs with an RBI-single to cap a three-run third and a two-run double in the fifth.
  • Jonathan Sa earned Great West Conference co-pitcher of the week honors after picking up the win. Sa came in out of the bullpen with runners at first and third and two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning and got Tyler Naquin to ground into a fielder's choice. After allowing a run in the sixth, Sa buckled down to allow only one base runner over the final three and one-third innings, on an error, while retiring the final eight batters he faced.
  • Angel Ibanez went 3-for-5 with a career-high three stolen bases. He also tied his career-high with three singles.
