HOUSTON – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women' tennis team (0-7) visits the University of Houston Cougars (7-3) on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at John E. Hoff Courts.
The Broncs
Wanda Beguelin and
Reegan Greenwood lead the Broncs in singles. Beguelin Is 6-11, including a 2-5 dual mark, while Greenwood is 5-6, including a 2-5 dual mark.
Anastasia Burobina has the Broncs' other dual singles win, going 1-4 and 4-11 overall.
Scouting the Cougars
The Cougars are coming off of a six-match road trip that saw them go 4-2. The Cougars opened the season with four at home, going 3-1.
The Cougars are coming off of a 4-3 win at Florida Gulf Coast on Feb. 16.
The Cougars are 15-7 (.682) in doubles play, including 6-1 with Jo Garvey and Elena Kordolaimi at No. 2 and 6-2 with Celia Fraser and Maja Kazimieruk at No. 3.
The Cougars are 40-20 (.667) in singles, led by Kazimieruk, who is 9-1, including 8-1 at No. 5 and 1-0 at No. 4. Rocio Martin Fernandez is 7-2 at No. 3.

This is the eighth meeting all-time between the Broncs and Cougars in a series dating back to 2002. The Broncs are looking for the first win.
The Broncs last played Houston on April 8, 2012, a 0-7 road loss.

Julia Perez made her dual debut in an 0-7 loss to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at home on Tuesday. Perez teamed up with Did Fatchikova for the Broncs' closest doubles match, falling 4-8 at No. 3 to Madier Martin and Mia Matuszak. Perez dropped her singles match at No. 6, 3-6, 1-6 to Leanne Mascall.

The Broncs are 0-2 at home this season and were 1-1 at home last season, but are 24-8 (.750) over the last eight seasons.

Wanda Beguelin defeated Flavia Araujo and Kimberly - Ann Surin 8-5.
When in Roma…
The Broncs have one local student-athlete in Roma-native and freshman
Julia Perez. During her four years at Roma High School, Perez went 72-0 and never lost a district match. She was District 32-4A MVP, First Team All-Valley and First Team All-District in Doubles all four years. She was also the 2009 and 2011 singles district champion, as well as the 2012 doubles district champion. The Gladiators won the district title every year she was there and were ranked No. 12 in the state in 2011. Perez also led the Gladiators on a 52-match winning streak in district play.
In addition to her stellar tennis play, Perez was a regional qualifier in swimming all four years, led the golf team to their first ever regional tournament, led the basketball team to the 2012 playoffs, and earned honorable mention in golf in 2011 and 2012 in basketball in 2011.

The Broncs currently have eight student-athletes on the roster representing eight different countries, including Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, England, France, The Netherlands, Russia and the United States.
